Changing Your Domain Name
Your primary domain is the main address (URL) that visitors use to access your website. To update it, you'll need to:
- Park the new domain in your Oncord Dashboard.
- Configure DNS to point the domain to your website.
- Set the new domain as your primary domain.
Note: You'll need to own the new domain before you begin. If you haven't registered it yet, follow these instructions to register a domain.
Step 1: Park The New Domain
Start by parking your new domain and setting it to redirect to your current primary domain.
- Log in to your Oncord Dashboard.
- Click the Settings icon (bottom of the left-hand sidebar).
- Go to Domains, then click Park Registered Domain.
- Enter your new domain name.
- Set the redirection to "Redirect to the primary domain name" with mode "301 Moved Permanently".
Step 2: Point the Domain to Your Oncord Website
If you registered the new domain through the Oncord Domain Console, you're all set - our name servers are already in place. You can skip to Step 3.
Otherwise, follow the go-live instructions to configure your domain’s DNS settings and point it towards the Oncord cluster where your website is hosted.
Step 3: Set the New Domain as Primary
Once your new domain is redirecting to your website, you're ready to make it the primary domain.
- Log in to your Oncord Dashboard.
- Go to Settings > Domains.
- Find your new domain in the list, right-click it, and select Make Primary.
Navigate to the domain in your browser's URL address bar and check that the transition has completed successfully.
