Setting Up the Meta Pixel Manually

The Meta Pixel is a piece of code on your website that helps you measure how well your Meta ads work, by tracking the actions people take on your website. This article explains how to create a Meta Pixel and add it directly to your Oncord website design.

To install the pixel through Google Tag Manager instead, see Setting Up the Meta Pixel via Google Tag Manager (GTM).

Before getting started, make sure you have set up your Meta Business Manager account and ad account at business.facebook.com.

Create the Meta Pixel

  • Sign in to your Meta Business Manager.
  • Go to Dashboard > All Tools > Events Manager.
  • Click Connect Data in the left menu.
  • Select Web.
  • Enter a name for your pixel.
  • Click Create pixel.

  • Click Next.
  • Select Meta Pixel Only.
  • Click Next.

Add the Pixel Code to Your Website Design

When code needs to appear across every page of your website, it belongs in your website design rather than on an individual page.

  • Go to Dashboard > Website > Designs.
  • Select the design you want to edit.
  • Click SOURCE in the left menu to open the design source code.
  • Paste the Meta Pixel code just before the closing </head> tag.
  • Click Save in the top left corner of the screen.

Note: If your website uses more than one design, repeat these steps for each design you want to track. Include your checkout design, as Oncord sends the Purchase event from the order success page.

Finish the Setup in Meta

  • Return to the Set up a new pixel page in Meta.
  • Click Continue.
  • Turn Automatic Advanced Matching on or off, depending on your needs.
  • Click Continue.

Meta can take up to 24 hours to start collecting data. To check that the pixel is working, see Checking Your Meta Pixel with Meta Ads Data Advisor.
